SUMMER TIME!

As a teacher we all look forward to some needed time OFF! I can't wait for the coming months as I travel to Wisconsin to visit family, move into a new house, decorate the blank walls of the new house, open up my ETSY store, and create something new once a week.

Almost every summer I have found a job to supplement my income, this year my boyfriend and I talked about it and I decided that I would not look for a job this summer I would focus on my ETSY store and my blog. There is so much on my TO DO this for this summer. I have made a check list that I will complete as I go through summer. One item on my list is to complete a DIY a week! This will be a new experience for me as I will be blogging at LEAST once a week! Another goal on my list is to complete 4 books from my bookshelf. There are so many more things on my list of TO DO's for the summer but will post them as they are completed.

I have changed the name of my blog to "Under the Brella." I wanted my blog and my Etsy site to have the same name. I do several different modes of crafts and wanted to keep the name of my store broad and general. I have a LOVE of knitting but also love to sew. When my store is up and running I will be sure to post a link and some items for sale that I have made on this blog!

HAPPY SUMMER!

Tiffany's

So I have just completed "Sunday at Tiffany's" by: James Patterson, it was a wonderful book. This book was an easy quick read about a sweet love relationship that started from a young age. The young girl had an imaginary friend until her ninth birthday at which time he had to leave. Her friend, Michael, said she would forget about him once he was gone but she never did. One day their platys cross again and I will leave the rest for you to read.

I wanted to both review this book but also pick out for fun a few items from Tiffany's. I bought myself a ring from here years ago. In the book the main character, Jane goes to Tiffany's every Sunday with her mother. Also, in the story Jane walks into Tiffany's and buys a beautiful diamond ring.

Here are a few I found that are BEAUTIFUL!

A Great Book

I have been reading through the blogs I either follow or just read here and there and someone had written on their blog that through Pintrest she has been feeling jealous/envious of the people that make money from their blogs and I could totally relate. I wish everyday that I could just craft and write my blog as a living. It is the dream one day.
The Future of Us

I have also finished a wonderful book called "The Story of Us." It was AMAZING it is set in the year 1997 where a pair of high schoolers have just received a computer. When they download AOL to the computer they also get Facebook. They get Facebook as a glimpse into their future 15 years from now. The  whole story takes place within a week and everyday as they make changes to their lives it also changes what happens on their Facebook page 15 years from now. I would highly recommend this book if you are into young adult fiction or if you are a high school student.

New Projects

So as of recently I have finished a few new projects. I have completed a cowl for a teacher friend of mine and have also finished a really fun and chunky cowl. I am in the process of re-knitting a sweater as the first time I knitted it, it was like four sizes too big for me. I am going to re-knit it and hope it fits this time around.
New chunky cowl

For my FRIEND!
I have been focusing on eating in for dinner a lot more. I made a wonderful taco noodle bake the other night that is one that I will have to keep in. My back pocket for when I am in need of score thing quick and easy and when I have everything at home.

For the next month I will be joining some great ladies at my home church I grew up in for a book group on the book The Wake of Forgiveness. So far so good. We are only 100 pages into it but it it quite an interesting book. I am. Trying to do better with my reading and finish a book or two a month. I finished the Hunger Game series over Christmas break but now that I am back to school i get so tired at night that all I want to do is go to bed!

I received a great new knitting book for Christmas and plan to get the yarn I need to complete one of the projects with either my birthday money or with my tax return money. I am very. Excited to see what happens in the coming months as this is a busy time of the year for a teacher. I can't wait for Spring Break and more importantly my trip to San Diego for a family friends wedding.

NEW YEAR

So as the new year begins there are several things that I look forward to starting and completing in 2012. I have decided that this year I am going to participate in a WORD FOR THE YEAR project. I have picked the word "Sense." I picked this word because I feel as though to connect with those around me be it work or home that I would like to feel or sense what and how people are feeling around me. I would like to also one day look back on 2012 and remember how thankful I am during 2012. I have decided and loaded the app on my phone to track my 1000 gifts as I go through the year. I am starting this new adventure and am very excited to see how my 2012 turns out.

So to start off my thankful list here I go......

1) Clean clothes
2) Testing out new computers
3) Sunrise as I drive into work

I guess I will just start with 3 today and continue from there as the year goes on. My goal is to get to 1000 before December 31, 2012.

December

As I near the end of another semester of teaching I am grateful for a needed break. This school year so far has been interesting and exciting. I was blessed with a student teacher that understood my style of teaching and my students. She will be leaving and teaching in her own classroom soon. She will make a great teacher and I am so blessed that she requested to come back and student teach with ME! On another note, I am going to try to be productive over Christmas break and complete some hats so that when I get my Etsy site up and running I have more then 5 items to post. I am so very excited to get back to trying to sell some of the items that I put so much love and time into families that will use the hats and LOVE them. I will be sure to post more pictures of the projects in which I am tackling in the coming weeks.

No Follow Through

So I really had good intentions of doing the 30 days of thanks but I found that every weekend I was out and about and every day was crazy. Maybe I should just keep an ongoing list and then post that list! I have a wonderful knitting project I was working on but when I tried it on the sweater was about 10 inches TOO BIG for me! I then had to rip it out and start over. I am excited to start it again as I would like to make a nice sweater I can wear. (Show off my GREAT work) November seems to have just wizzed by and soon it will be December and Christmas time. I would like to make some fun crafty decorations. When that happens I will be posting the pictures online!
